The coldest hottest hockey cards on eBay will commonly feature the game’s all-time greats, and current superstars.

While the number of watchers on hockey cards rarely gets as high as other mainstream sports like basketball, baseball, and football, the biggest Wayne Gretzky cards will easily near 100 or more watchers.

The Great One’s popularity is evident with his cards littered all over the top 75 each week. In fact, at the time of writing, Gretzky’s 1979 O-Pee-Chee (OPC) and Topps rookies make six total appearances in the top 75, with an autographed OPC sitting at #1 with 183 watchers!

But this super rare Grand Finale from 1997 SPx particularly caught our attention in the hot list.

Outside of Gretzky, the most watched hockey cards on eBay also include current and future Hall of Famers such as Sidney Crosby, Mario Lemieux, Alexander Ovechkin, and Patrick Roy.

You’ll also commonly find rookie cards, game used patch cards, and autographs of superstars in their prime like Connor McDavid, and Nathan MacKinnon, or even the hotly anticipated Blackhawks center (or centre for our Canadian friends) Connor Bedard.

Keep in mind seasonality and performance on the ice — during the season or especially in the playoffs — will impact the demand for players making the list day to day.

While eBay doesn’t support the ability to find cards with the highest watch counts, we didn’t let it stop us from designing an alternative way to find the most watched hockey cards in descending order.

The page supports the following:

  1. maximum of 75 eBay listings
  2. min / max price filters to narrow results within a preferred budget
  3. “buy it now” listings filtered out unless they have auction capabilities (we want real-time insights, not stale BIN listings)
  4. time remaining will display in red font for auctions ending in 24 hours
  5. cards are sorted by most watchers at the top (not ending soonest)
  6. clicking Watch Item ♥ will take you directly to the eBay listing
  7. Other sports cards may occasionally appear if the seller put it in the wrong category!

Pro Tip: set the Max Price to a lower value to look for less expensive but cool cards
